Tiger’s eye is indeed a member of the quartz family, but it contains asbestos fibers (completely non-harmful!) that produce that gorgeous chatoyancy it is so famous for. These stones are faceted all around to best show off the colors and shininess in these beautiful beads.

The hoops measure just about 1” across and hang about 1.25” from the top of the ear wire.
